The park's design mirrors the popular Chaparral Dog Park, featuring three distinct play areas: a 1.5-acre grass section, a 1-acre grass area, and a 1-acre wood chip zone. This configuration allows for rotation, ensuring that each section remains well-maintained and accessible. Amenities such as shade canopies, benches, water fountains, and pet waste stations are planned to enhance visitor comfort. Additionally, a footbridge will connect the dog park to existing Thompson Peak Park facilities, and new parking along Hayden Road will accommodate increased traffic. A restroom building is also included in the plans. Adding a touch of local culture, artist Shachi Kale will create vibrant panels depicting dogs, cats, and Scottsdale's desert landscape, enriching the park's aesthetic appeal.

The inclusion of three separate play areas is a strategic choice. By rotating these sections, the city aims to keep the surfaces fresh, reduce mud, conserve water, and minimize maintenance-related closures. This thoughtful design underscores Scottsdale's commitment to providing high-quality recreational spaces for its residents and their pets.

The project's timeline is as follows: native tree salvage and relocation began in spring 2024, with construction slated to start in late summer or early fall of 2025. The park is expected to open to the public in summer 2026.
